This is a simple and fun game but the lack of saves (outside of a few checkpoints) and the very sharp spike in difficulty in the end game makes the whole experience more frustrating than enjoyable. The music is great, stage design is great - but unless you are a masochist or platforming expert you'll be left with a pretty sour aftertaste in the end. Games being difficult are completely fine and this title is packed with it - but going from jumping/avoiding projectiles and timing switches/spikes (difficult but reasonable), to suddenly having to throw and jump on consecutive moving boomerangs with millisecond accuracy for numerous times ON THREE STAGES doesn't feel to me as the appropriate progression of difficulty.. Testing your patience is an understatement. I have yet to complete the game, however, I constantly am finding new things to appreciate about the time the dev has put into it. I die top a fireball and I begin to wonder, did he program that to specifically f*** the player or was that just by accident. Sometimes I feel like luck has a little bit to do with why I progress but then I have moments where I impress myself with how I managed to work my way out of an in game situation. While holding the boomerang, if you have upwards momentum from your jump (can not be highest peak), you have to throw and land on the boomerang at the same frame, by pressing your jump button again. That way you can mid-air off the boomerang. Makes some jumps at the boomerang-section easier. Great game, worth the money! Can't wait for Hardmode.
